Steve Bruce reacts to Newcastle United's Carabao Cup win in round two

Newcastle United host Blackburn Rovers at St James’s Park tonight – and we’ve got it covered.

Newcastle were knocked out at the same stage of the Carabao Cup last season by Leicester City, but went on to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The club has prioritised the Premier League under Mike Ashley’s ownership, though head coach Steve Bruce insists he’s free to attack the cup competitions.

Steve Bruce reacts to Newcastle United win

Joe has always, always worked his socks off. He’s got to dust himself down and get on with it.

Steve Bruce on Ryan Fraser

Liam Kennedy’s GOOD DAY/BAD DAY

GOOD DAY

Steve Bruce I suppose. He made 10 changes to the side and still oversaw progression to round three - even he’ll admit it was an awful watch mind. Ryan Fraser and Miguel Almiron were plus points, so too the performance of Mark Gillespie between the sticks - very assured.

BAD DAY

Joelinton, Joelinton and Joelinton. Nah, it wasn’t really a grab the opportunity by the scruff of the neck performance by Sean Longstaff or Dan Barlaser either.

And that’s that - NUFC certainly didn’t make it easy for themselves!

Joelintooooo... No! As you were.
