Bruce's side beat Bournemouth 2-1 at St James’s Park yesterday to move up to 11th place in the Premier League.

The game was watched by a crowd of 44,424 – the average attendance so far this season is down 5,000 – and Bruce feels that the style of play is getting a response from supporters.

“The crowd will only respond when they see the team up and at them,” said head coach Bruce.

“We’re edging towards that. The crowd played a part in the last 10 to 15 minutes. They enjoyed the threat and the pace and power we have up the pitch. We just need to add the goal at the end of the pitch. I know Bournemouth will go away from that saying it’s a tough afternoon playing against those three.”
