But just how much is every Magpies player worth?
Here we delve into the statistics from that original survey and reveal how the value of United’s £205million squad is actually broken down, according to transfermarkt.
Some of the values are fair – but some are way off the mark. We start with the goalkeepers...
21. Christian Atsu - £5.4m
The Ghana international winger has been a revelation this season following his return from injury. Could turn into a vital cog in the wheel at United. But seems a fair value for the player. | Getty Images Photo: Ian MacNicol
22. Matt Ritchie - £10.8m
Left-back, midfielder or wide - he's a model pro and top performer. The beating heart of United's team. A big miss. And it's easy to see why he's still worth every penny United paid Bournemouth for him. | Getty Images Photo: Ian MacNicol
23. Allan Saint-Maximin - £22.5m
Could prove to be a massive player for United - who paid just £16m for his services this summer. A character on and off the park, who fits perfectly into Newcastle's French, slightly damaged goods signing approach - Hatem Ben Arfa et al. | Getty Images Photo: Ian MacNicol
24. Miguel Almiron - £18m
Yet to really show his worth, especially in front of goal, but does a lot of good work elsewhere. United paid £16m rising to £21m for the Paraguay international. | Getty Images Photo: Takashi Aoyama
