The Magpies have SIX players out-of-contract and THREE loan players, whose futures all remain up in the air.
Most player contracts end in June, but what happens if the season goes on beyond that? Could they play? Would they sign short-term deals? Would longer extensions be on the table?
Here we take a look at the contractual situation of NINE United players, who will have question marks over their heads, should the Premier League be able to start up again.
Whether it does, or we simply wipe the slate clean and start again in September remains very much up for date, in this ever-changing, global coronavirus pandemic.
Here’s details of all NINE of Newcastle’s uncertain players – and one or two of them are key men.
1. Javier Manquillo - out of contract this summer
The Spaniard, signed by Rafa Benitez, has proven himself to be the most reliable, dependable right-backs in United's squad.
While he does not possess the blistering forward drives of DeAndre Yedlin, there is a balance to his play, which makes him equally as adept on the right or the left. Will Steve Bruce tie him down? He's a player who United pick in their starting XI, when everyone is fit, you'd think they'll be angling towards a new deal for the former Liverpool and Sunderland man. 2. Nabil Bentaleb - Schalke loan deal ends in summer
Bentaleb has seen plenty of minutes but done very little to impress.
He's fallen out with the powers that be at Schalke, so they would have no qualms about United extending this deal in to the summer.

3. Rob Elliot - out of contract this summer
This decision will be a much easier one for Bruce to make.
Elliot is quite clearly third choice and even should the season be extended beyond his contract, it's unlikely Elliot will get any more time on Tyneside. Photo: Ian MacNicol
4. Danny Rose - Tottenham loan deal ends in summer
Has he done enough to see any United stay extended? That's debatable.
Would his departure leave some questions unanswered. Very much so.
Rose has obvious talent but arrived on Tyneside without gametime and fitness under his belt. We were just seeing him in almost a pre-season mode. It would have been nice to see a bit more. One thing is for sure, this break will have done nothing for the fitness/match fitness side of things. Photo: PAUL ELLIS
