Newcastle United started off the Premier League season with a WIN – and that came as a real surprise to our fan panel.

Getting the season off on the front foot is very un-Newcastle United-like, but our panelists from the West Ham United victory – inspired by goalscorers Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick – can’t wait for more of the same this week.

Here’s what they had to say following the 2-0 London Stadium win...

Toon for Change – @ToonForChange

“Brilliant result and exactly the start we needed. Immense debuts from Wilson, Hendrick and Lewis. Great to have options off the bench that can impact the game and a clean sheet to boot. Carroll MOTM - led from the front."

Graeme Bell – @GraemeBell_NUFC

"Thought we were excellent. Manquillo, Carroll, Wilson, Hendrick all brilliant tonight... Very impressive performance I have to say. Certainly brings more positive feeling to the club which is great! Just shows you what an actual striker can do, what a difference it makes. Fabulous stuff, roll on Brighton!”

Dave Black – @cm9798

“That was a very professional display and we deserved the win. The three debutants looked very good and of course two of them getting off the mark can only help. We always seem to be starting a season on the back foot so this is a welcome change. When you’re winning you can’t wait for the next game and with a packed schedule, it would be nice to build some momentum. Let’s ignore how poor West Ham were and just enjoy the win!”
