That’s the view of Lee Charnley ahead of Saturday’s home game against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Charnley was criticised by fans in the summer following the departure of manager Rafa Benitez and the appointment of Steve Bruce as his successor. Newcastle, however, are 11th in the Premier League with 22 points, and Charnley, the club’s managing director, believes Bruce and his players have “moved the dial”.

“We obviously had a challenging fixture list – and had to deal quite a lot of criticism,” Charnley told BBC Radio Newcastle. “I think there was an acceptance from my side and his side that it would take a little bit of time to try and change the narrative and move the dial. What we’re seeing now … both Steve and the players are getting some of the credit they deserve.”
