The Arsenal defender is a potential summer loan target for Steve Bruce, who is looking to strengthen his squad this summer.

However, Saliba – who is yet to play a competitive first-team game for Arsenal two years after joining the club from Saint-Etienne in a £30million deal – is keen to return to Nice, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, according to L’Equipe.

Arsenal reportedly plan to sell 20-year-old Saliba, also said to be a target for Olympique Marseille, rather than loan him if he’s not in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the coming season.

Newcastle’s primary summer target is 21-year-old Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock, who scored eight goals on loan at St James’s Park last season. United can only loan one player from a single Premier League club.
