Northern League: Boldon CA delighted to claim 'massive point' in last-gasp Jarrow draw
Northern League Division Two neighbours Jarrow and Boldon CA battled to a 2-2 draw at Perth Green on Monday.
Boldon CA joint-manager Keaton Trott praised his side for picking up what he believes could be a ‘massive point’ in their 2-2 draw with local rivals Jarrow.
The South Tyneside neighbours are sitting at opposite ends of the Northern League Division Two table ahead of their Bank Holiday Monday clash - and it appeared Jarrow were set to boost their promotion hopes after they recovered from going a goal down to a Jordan Laidler penalty just before half-time. Kennie Malia’s men got back on level-terms midway through the second-half when substitute Jay Barber grabbed an equaliser before they went in front for the first time with a neat finish from Ryan Hardie.

However, there was to be a last-gasp slice of fortune for Boldon as a header from Luke Grant evaded the grasp of hosts keeper Lewis Baker before dropping over the line to hand what could be a precious point for Trott’s side.
Speaking after the game, the Boldon joint-manager told The Gazette: “We got a bit of luck at the end there but it’s only what we have deserved throughout the full game. I thought we played really well, it was a good first-half performance but we came out of the blocks too slow in the second-half. There was a bit of luck but I think it’s about time the luck went our way because it has gone against us for the last month or so. We knew it was going to be hard, we knew we had to dig in. It’s a massive point and it would have been nice to come away with three but we dug in for a point that could be vital given where we are in the league now.”
