Northern League: Jarrow 'buzzing' ahead of Grangetown trip

Jarrow will hope to boost their push for promotion with a win at Grangetown Boys Club on Saturday.

Kennie Malia has challenged in-form Jarrow to keep the buzz going as they prepare to visit Northern League Division Two rivals Grangetown Boys Club on Saturday.

Last weekend’s 1-0 win at Ryton has ensured Malia’s men are now 16 games unbeaten in the league and are just three points behind leaders Billingham Town ahead of this weekend’s fixtures. Despite being high on confidence, Malia has urged his players to be at their best as they list what he described as ‘a tough place to go’.

He told The Gazette: “There is just a big buzz around the team and that does help with the league form because you can sense the confidence is high. We don’t want that buzz to stop and the only way to do that is to keep winning. It’s a tough place to go and no matter who we play, we have to be on it”

Malia will welcome summer signing Stephen Siyanbola back from suspension after his top goalscorer missed the win at Ryton. Although such a player will always be missed, the fact defender Jack Armstrong became the fifteenth different Jarrow player to find the net this season is a major positive according to Malia.

He said: “I know we didn’t score loads on Saturday but we got through and did it at a tough place, one of things we said ahead of the season was that we need to score from all over the pitch, defenders, set pieces, lads arriving late, everyone. That’s something we have done this season.”
