Northern League: Kennie Malia proud as Jarrow beat Division Two leaders
Jarrow made it 19 league games unbeaten with an impressive win at Northern League Division Two leaders Billingham Town.
Kennie Malia hailed his Jarrow players after they produced one of their best performances of the season to topple former Northern League Division Two leaders Billingham Town.
The Perth Green outfit have their own promotion ambitions as they look to secure a place in the league’s top tier for the first time in their history - and they are laying the foundations for a push for step five with their win at Bedford Terrace ensuring their unbeaten run is now standing at 19 league games.

Malia’s men struck first as Luca Nelson fired them in front on 20 minutes before the hosts hit back seven minutes into the second half with an equaliser from Joe Aungiers. However, Jarrow would not be denied and a Ryan Hardie goal just two minutes later was enough to secure yet another impressive win and keep them within touching distance of new league leaders Boldon CA.
Speaking after the win, Malia told The Gazette: “We showed the right attitude, desire and passion to secure what we think is another massive three points. The warm up was a real tone setter from us and it showed us that the lads looked like the really wanted that win. It was a game with loads of chances for both sides but I really feel we deserved to take all three points overall.”
Jarrow will now focus their attention on next Saturday’s home clash with Prudhoe YC as Malia’s men prepare for the first of three consecutive Perth Green clashes.
