Sunderland’s hunt for midfield reinforcements goes on and the Black Cats have been credited with an interest in Manchester City midfielder Matt Smith.
London Football News linked Sunderland with the 20-year-old, who is a full Welsh international.
Smith could be available if City recall him from his QPR loan spell after a disappointing first half of the campaign and limited time on the pitch.
Phil Parkinson is due to meet the press at the Academy of Light this lunchtime to provide a January update.
