Sunderland transfer news: Striker exit confirmed while youngster lands National League move
Sunderland have announced their latest departure
Sunderland have confirmed that Nazariy Rusyn has completed a permanent exit from the club.
Rusyn has joined Ukrainian top-tier club Karpaty Lviv, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Polish club Arka Gdynia. The club’s statement makes no mention of a fee, suggesting that Rusyn has left either for a nominal fee or on a free. Rusyn had one year left on his current contract at Sunderland, having struggled to force his way into the side on a regular basis since arriving in the summer of 2023. The move will allow him to play regularly and helps Sunderland trim their wage bill ahead of the new campaign - his contractual situation means the SCR loss to the club’s accounts will be modest.
He has signed a four-year contract at Karpaty Lviv.
A club statement said: “Sunderland AFC can confirm that Nazariy Rusyn has joined Ukrainian club Karpaty on a permanent deal.
“Rusyn spent last season on loan with Polish side Arka Gdynia, scoring four league goals in 23 games. The 27-year-old played 32 times for Sunderland, having joined the club in September 2023. All at Sunderland AFC wish Naz the best of luck in the next steps of his career.”
