This is why FPP Sunderland representative will be at Stadium of Light next month
Sunderland’s new American investors are set to return to Wearside in December – as they attend a board meeting at the club.
FPP Sunderland – the group containing businessmen Glenn Fuhrman, Robert Platek and John Phelan – finalised a £10million investment into the Black Cats in October, bringing to an end a long saga which also involved the trio discussing a potential takeover of the club.
Ultimately, however, a loan to Madrox Partners – Stewart Donald’s holding company – was secured.
Platek and Phelan have both been spotted on Wearside in the past as they took in the 3-1 win over AFC Wimbledon earlier this term, and a representative from the group is set to head to Sunderland in December for a board meeting.
Speaking at a club talk-in, executive director Charlie Methven said: “I think they’d like to see more of the club and how the club works.
“One of their representatives will be coming to a board meeting in December to see how we operate.
“They’ll certainly be taking a very keen interest – how the playing side develops, how the fans react – they’ll be interested in all aspects of this.
“As a club, I hope as we move forward we can all put our best foot forward and be the best we can possibly be.
“If Sunderland AFC can be the best it can be, then it will be an enormously attractive proposition – not just to this group.”
