The opening trio of fixtures offer Boldon a challenging start to the season – but Crumbie believes that every game will be tough during the campaign.

He told The Gazette: “Going away to Leam Rangers is always a tough game and one that I certainly wouldn’t have picked if I could have.

“But we know this league is a difficult one and everyone can be each other – as every season proves.

“We just want to get off to a good start with a good performance and build on that.”

Boldon were sat in eighth place when the coronavirus epidemic brought an early end to last season.

But after a busy summer in the transfer market, Crumbie is keen to build on the positive aspects of last season and be part of “an open battle” for the league title.

“We have to build on the positives of last season and address the factors that held us back, which we are doing.

“We have added quality to our squad, and we want to improve on last season.

“Obviously, every club in the league will start the season saying that they would love to win the league and we are no different.

“It will be an open battle for the title – and hopefully we can be part of it.”
