Beyond Van Gogh opens to the public on July 11, transporting audiences into 300 of the the Dutch Post-Impressionist painter’s great works.
It’s a chance to see Newcastle Arena as you’ve never seen it before, with the main floor transformed into a 10,000 sq ft world of colour, light and sound.
We went for a sneak peek ahead of its 29-day run and Anna Parry from producers Annerin Productions says North East audiences can look forward to a special experience.
“The real aim is that you leave here feeling you’ve stepped into one of Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings,” she explained.
More than seven million people globally have experienced the show so far - and now it’s the North East’s turn.
Speaking about people’s reactions to the show, Anna said: “You have people that leave here so happy, because people are coming on date nights, people are coming with their families, it’s just a really nice atmosphere.
“You also have people that are moved to tears because, in his lifetime, he experienced his own kind of depression and I think there’s a lot of emotion that comes with the show as well.”
