South Tyneside celebrated its links with Bangladesh with a special event marking the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence from Pakistan.

The Bangladeshi community were joined by many others in South Tyneside for events in Ocean Road on Sunday, August 21, in a delayed celebration which had been due to take place in March 2021, but was halted due to the pandemic.
