Howe has made eight changes to his starting XI for the sold-out third-round tie at St James’s Park. Of Howe’s starters, only Nick Pope, Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff were in the starting XI for the third-placed club’s 4-1 Premier League win over Southampton on Sunday.
Callum Wilson – who was taken off at the St Mary’s Stadium because of an illness – is not involved along with Ryan Fraser and Karl Darlow.

Hide AdAmong those coming into the team is 20-year-old midfielder Elliot Anderson, who made his full debut in the club’s win over Tranmere Rovers in the previous round. I’ve been coming in off the bench but that’s not where I want to be,” said Anderson in the programme.
“I want to be in the starting XI. I’m still every week to try and get more minutes and hopefully push my way through to achieve that.
“Coming in every day to train and living in Newcastle is great, but I want to be playing omore. I’m just missing that one feeling of being involved in the team every week and having that feeling of being a big player.
“I think it will come eventually. I’m still 20 years old, and hopefully I’ll get there.”
