No new coronavirus deaths recorded at South Tyneside's NHS trust for fourth consecutive day

NHS England figures released on Sunday, May 31 show there have been no new coronavirus-related deaths recorded by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, meaning the total number deaths at the trust remains at 318.

A total of 1,336 people who had tested positive for coronavirus have died across the North East’s hospital trusts - a rise of seven since yesterday, May 30.

Nationally, a further 85 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 26,614.

Patients were aged between 56 and 100 years old. Six of the 85 patients – who were aged between 56 and 82 - had no known underlying health conditions

Deaths are announced on an NHS trust level – there is no public breakdown of the number of deaths per hospital.

Total number of deaths at the trust: 120

Number of deaths announced on May 31: 1

South Tees NHS Foundation Trust

Total number of deaths at the trust: 231

Number of deaths announced on May 31: 0

Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Total number of deaths at the trust: 113

Number of deaths announced on May 31: 1

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust

Total number of deaths at the trust: 234

Number of deaths announced on May 31: 4

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust

Total number of deaths at the trust: 129

According to the latest figures released by Public Health England on Saturday, May 30, there are 10,099 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the North East - a rise of 40 from Friday, May 29.
