Watch as 1,200 North East bikers roar into action in a fantastic record-breaking Easter convoy
The wonderfully ear-splitting roar of 1,200 bikers revved into action as a North East convoy created an Easter spectacle.
The fantastic Durham Easter Egg Run was held on Easter Sunday and it was a record breaker.
More bikers than ever before took part. More Easter eggs were handed out. And more spectators came along to watch an event which has become a thrilling part of the region’s calendar.

Bikers from Sunderland, South Shields, Newcastle, Northumberland, Hartlepool, Darlington, Yorkshire and more joined in with the convoy which started at the car park of Tesco Extra at Dragonville, in Durham.

Riders in their droves kept arriving for three hours and when they set off, people of all ages watched. They got to see people dressed as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Captain America and dozens were dressed as Easter bunnies.

The convoy made its way to the University Hospital of North Durham and Darlington Memorial Hospital where riders donated Easter eggs to worthy causes.
Others were already handed out at hospitals which were not covered by the convoy on the day. Children in foster care, with special needs, and ‘others in need of love and support’ were also given an Easter egg.

Organiser Graeme Mills said: “It has been a fantastic turnout and I know that it is the biggest we have ever had.”

Storm Dave had passed sufficiently for the event to go ahead on a breezy but bright day.
The day’s fun also included raising thousands of pounds for charities. This year, they were Pet Angels Wearside, Missed A Beat Foundation, Shaw Trust, British Heart Foundation, Northumbria Blood Bikes, Durham Dogs and Cats Home, Feeding Families and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The Durham Easter Egg Run has been an annual event for many years. This year, more bike, trikes and other vehicles than ever joined the convoy.
The run has its own Facebook page which has hundreds of followers and supporters including taxi firms, bingo halls, social clubs, and individuals who amassed Easter eggs to donate to the cause.
There is also a GoFundMe page which had raised more than £3,600 on the morning of the convoy compared to a target of £2,500 and you can find it at https://www.gofundme.com/f/durham-easter-egg-run-2026
