Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has a number of animals that are looking for their forever home.
The shelter, which was established in 1896, helps animals that are unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned - as well as reuniting lost animals with their owners and finding loving new homes for those who are no longer wanted.
Here are 21 cute animals who are in need of a home - you can find out more at: https://www.dogandcatshelter.com/.

9. Goose (Lurcher)
Goose is a lovely lad and, as the name suggests, a bit of a silly goose! He can initially be worried around new people/situations, but warms up quickly and is soon showing his fun side! Once he is comfortable with you, he enjoys being made a fuss of and spending time with his humans. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
10. Molly
Molly came to the shelter through no fault of her own, and has found it a real struggle adapting to her new surroundings. Staff know that Molly was happy in her previous home, living with adults and children that she knew and was used to, but she’s always found it challenging having visitors. She is used to a busy home but would spend a lot of time out the way. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
11. Axle (Lurcher)
Axle is a lovely, sweet lad who can be quite timid. At the moment, staff aren't sure if this is just due to the shelter environment, he does seem to making good progress in building his confidence as time goes on. He has enjoyed playing with toys and seems to particularly like soft toys. He has been quite timid when meeting other dogs and typically chooses not to interact with them, so could work on some more confidence building in this area too. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
12. Bug (Old Tyme Bulldog)
Bug is a lovely lad who is very much a typical Bulldog – stubborn, daft and quirky! He has swiftly made friends with staff and volunteers at the shelter and thrives off human company – he loves being made a fuss of and will often seek attention from his humans! | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
