Bin warning issued to South Tyneside residents ahead of Bonfire Night
South Tyneside Council has issued a bin warning to residents ahead of this year’s Bonfire Night.
South Tyneside residents have been urged to remember to bring their bins in ahead of Bonfire Night on November 5.
The warning comes from South Tyneside Council after a number of bins were deliberately set alight during the Bonfire Night period last year.

Residents are told that they can help reduce the risk in the following ways:
- Bringing their bin back onto their property as soon as possible after collection.
- If possible, keep bins somewhere secure.
- Don’t leave bins or other combustible items accessible in the street.
- Report any suspicious behaviour to the authorities.
The local authority states that a simple step like bringing your bin in can help prevent fires, damage and unnecessary disruption across South Tyneside communities.
Members of the public who see a fire throughout the Bonfire Night period are told not to put themselves at risk and should call Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) on 999.
