Commuters facing delays after police called to deal with disorder on train


Commuters faced hold-ups of around half-an-hour after a train en route to South Shields had to be held at Gateshead Stadium at 10.10am while police assistance arrived.
A Metro spokesman said the incident led to a knock-on effect of delays and services to both South Shields and South Hylton.

Hide AdThe spokesman added that trains are expected to be running to a normal timetable by 12pm today.
A Metro spokesman said: "At 10.10am, police were called to a report of disorder at Gateshead Stadium, on a train heading towards South Shields.
"Unfortunately, this incident took about 30 minutes to resolve and trains were held up.
"There is an even gap between trains now and we are expecting to be back to time table by 12pm.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience caused to passengers, the incident was unfortunately beyond our control.
