Gavin Jary, 31, was heavily intoxicated when pulled over by police at 2.40am in River Drive, South Shields, on Saturday, January 16.
A roadside breath test revealed the EE employee, of Ruskin Crescent, Biddick Hall, South Shields, had 110mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath, against a 35mcgs limit.

His licence had been revoked after he gained six penalty points as a newly qualified driver, and he had not re-sat his test.
The court banned him from the roads for 23 months and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work as part of an 18-month community order.
Prosecutor Paul Anderson said: “He was stopped in River Drive and checks showed that his licence had been revoked as a new driver and that he had no insurance.
“He was more than three times the limit at 110mcgs.”

“He was over the limit and did not have a licence or insurance.
“He is fully aware that what he did was wrong and he’s aware of the societal implications of drink-driving and its possible impact on others.
“The reason his licence was revoked was that he had passed his test, but he got six penalty points and has gone back to a provisional licence.

As part of the community order, Jary must also complete 15 days of rehabilitation work with the Probation Service.
Jary, who admitted charges of drink-driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence, must pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
There was no separate penalty for driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
