Seven arrested after reports of weapons incident in Arran Drive, Jarrow

Seven people have been arrested after police were called to reports of an incident involving weapons in a residential street.

Northumbria Police said officers were dispatched to Arran Drive in Jarrow on Saturday June 6 after reports of men armed with weapons.

The force has now confirmed seven people have been arrested and officers are appealing for information.

A spokesman said: “At about 2pm on Saturday police received a report that a number of people were causing a disturbance on Arran Drive in Jarrow.

“It was reported that a number of men had brandished weapons following a dispute with another group.

“Officers attended the area and seven people were arrested, they remain in custody at this time.

“Nobody has been reported to be injured and it is believed all those involved are known to each other. Enquiries into the incident is ongoing but anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 472 06/06/20.”
