Former South Tyneside pub with planning permission to build flats goes up for sale
A former South Tyneside pub has been placed on the property market.
A once popular South Tyneside pub has been put up for sale.
The Alley, previously known as The Jester, on Tasmania Road, in South Shields has been brought to the property market by Bradley Hall for a guide price of £180,000.
The property listing states: “The property comprises a substantial former public house known as The Jester, arranged over ground and first floors.

“The ground floor provides a spacious open-plan bar area together with two cellars, a commercial kitchen and customer WC facilities.
“The first floor, accessed internally from the ground floor, comprises a three-bedroom flat providing three bedrooms, a large reception room, kitchen and bathroom.
“The residential accommodation is available by separate negotiation.
“The premise falls within Use Class Sui Generis and was previously used as a public house.”
The approved plans could see the building transformed into four flats, along with a boundary fence on part of the site to “preserve the privacy” of neighbours.
A total of seven car parking spaces were also proposed to serve the flats, including three pairs of spaces on a paved area of the site and one single space at the rear of the property.
Under planning conditions, the development must be brought forward by July 2027, with more information on the approved plans available under the reference of: ST/0479/23/FUL on South Tyneside Council’s planning portal.
