I’ve helped people lose weight for 16 years, now I’m aiming to hit my own Slimming World target
A Jarrow Slimming World consultant is looking to hit her target weight while also helping others.
Jackie Herron, who runs Slimming World groups at the Christ Church Community Hall, in Jarrow, is aiming to hit her target weight in 2026 all while helping others do the same thing.
The 65-year-old has been a Slimming World consultant for 16 years having initially started a group in Arbroath, in Scotland, after she moved away from her native North East.
Since moving back to the region in 2010, the grandmother-of-three has ran Slimming World groups across the borough before taking over the group at Christ Church Community Hall around six years ago.
Jackie has explained how successful her group members were over the course of last year as they lost more than a total of 5,500 lbs between them.
She said: “In 2025, 21 of my members did achieve their weight loss dreams reaching their own Personal Target Weight.
“They joined my other 15 members who have been at their dream weight for more than a year.
“So we've now got 36 members at their dream weight in my two groups. 15 members achieved their Club 10 Award losing 10% of their body weight with tremendous health benefits.
“I am so proud to say that my members lost an amazing 5,525 lbs between them during January 2025 to December 2025 - that's an amazing 197 st 9 lbs.”
Having gone on her own weight lose journey and following a strong 2025 for her members, Jackie is now also focused on hitting her own target weight in 2026.
She added: “My dream for 2026 is to reach my Personal Target Weight as well as all my members reaching their own.
“When I was overweight, I felt fat, frumpy, depressed and that I looked old for my age.
“I hated having my photos taken, especially when I was on holiday as I always felt embarrassed by the way I looked.
“Now I love my holidays and there's nothing better than being on a cruise being able to dress up on an evening and have my photo taken.”
