Jarrow food bank appeals for donations ahead of children's Halloween event
A Jarrow food bank is appealing for donations for their annual Halloween event.
A food bank based in Jarrow is asking if members of the public can donate crisps and sweets for an upcoming Halloween event.
Bede’s Helping Hands, based on Glasgow Road in Jarrow, is holding their annual Halloween event on Friday, October 30.
The food bank will give out Halloween buckets “full of goodies” for children.
The community-led food bank issued an appeal on social media asking if anybody could donate crisps or sweets ahead of the event to keep their costs down.

A spokesperson, via social media, said: “Can’t believe this is just around the corner, have to say one of my favourite times of the year.
“I don’t really like to do this but we do need help to keep our costs down.
“We love to see the kids coming down and receiving a gift from us.
“It doesn’t have to be a lot. Just a small token.”
The team at Bede’s Helping Hands were awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2024.
Last week, they announced they had created book bundles for all ages, sold to raise money for the food bank.
