Jarrow school makes it a hat-trick of '˜outstanding' Ofsted reports

A school in South Tyneside has scored an '˜outstanding' hat-trick after being scrutinised by education watchdogs.

Epinay Business and Enterprise School was visted by Ofsted inspectors ahead of the Easter break.

During their inspection they observed teaching and learning, spoke with pupils and gathered freedback from parents and carers.

In a report rating the school as ‘outstanding’ inspectors noted: ‘The quality of teaching and assessment is outstanding, teachers plan extremely well to engage interest and develop skills and as a result the progress that pupils make is impressive’.

Chris Rue, who took up the post as head teacher, last year, said “We are delighted with the report and the inspection only validates all the Outstanding work that goes on within Epinay School.”

It is the third time the school in Clervaux Terrace, Jarrow, has been rated as outstanding, with previous inspections carried out in 2010 and 2013.

Mr Rue added “I am overwhelmed with this recognition which acknowledges the teamwork of teachers, parents, pupils, governors and local community who support us. This valuable support enables us to consistently deliver the highest educational provision.”

The school caters for those aged four to 19 with a range of special educational and complex needs.
