Man suffers head injury after being hit by car in South Shields


Northumbria Police were told just after 10.15pm yesterday that a man, aged 27, had been knocked down on John Reid Road in the town.
He was taken to the RVI in Newcastle with head injuries.

Hide AdHowever, his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
The driver of the car was not injured and officers spoke to him at the scene.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
A force spokesman said: “At around 10.17pm last night police received a report of a vehicle that had been in collision with a pedestrian on John Reid Road, South Shields.

Hide Ad“Emergency services attended and the male pedestrian, 27, was taken to the RVI with a head injury.
"It is not thought to be life-threatening.
"The male driver of the vehicle was not injured in the incident and was spoken to by officers at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing.
