Too soon for Christmas? Shoppers have their say as festive stock hits shelves

As some supermarkets begin to stock their Christmas treats, we asked if you thought it was too early for festive preparations to start.

Some of you are set to get cracking with Christmas, while others think the stock is coming in too soon.

Are you more Ebenezer Scrooge or Buddy the elf?

Christopher Jones: “Many people spread out their Christmas spending and can’t afford to do it all at once, so for some, it makes it easier if shops are putting Christmas stock out now.”

Julie Wilkinson: “I have worked in a supermarket for 20 years. It’s the same every year once the kids go back you school the first wave of Christmas goods hit the shop floor.”

Allyson Hines: “Mid-November is early enough, just plain stupidity! You can't even get a decent birthday card in the shops from September onwards as they are stocked full of Christmas ones.”

Amanda Michelle Eady: “I think after Halloween is best. You buy things now and they expire before Christmas.”

Christine Heslop: “I’ll eat the mince pies well before Christmas … love them.”

Kay Golphin: “I think we should all put the Christmas tree up and call it a year.”

Pauline Ross: “Far too soon, fed up with them by Christmas. It’s getting earlier every year.”

Annelise Hamilton: “December 1 is when Christmas stuff should actually start.”

Stacey Ann Morton-ofee: “It’s handy Christmas stuff out so early in my house being as the kids’ birthdays are November, December and January i can get everything out the way early.”

Gillian Billyard: “I’ve made my cakes and bought a new tree and tins of sweets.”

Susan Dwyer: “Too early for mince pies, but as a veggie I do admit to doing a little dance in the aisles when the sprouts are back.”

Doreen Day: “Sweet mince pies in the shops now, I did a double take, thought I'd missed a few months and Christmas was here!”
