He told the Gazette: “I am a life long local photographer and have been going to the Shields market since the late 1960's.

"My wife spotted a large vintage wedding photo, taken by a local photographer of a wedding group in South Shields at the turn of the century. It is a stunningly unique photo, which friends are saying was an amazing find.”

The photo is set in a large 16" x 20" double mounted, double frame and ‘nailed closed as they did back then and is completely original’, said Paul.

The photographer is thought to have been a William Henry Warren of South Shields who had a photography studio on Fowler Street in 1914.

Paul added: “The quality of the photo is stunning and this is about its journey. It would have had pride of place in someone’s house.

"It might have been passed on to someone else after that. Everyone who is in the picture problem is not with us any more.

"Going by the clothes worn by the people in the picture, it is probably a photo from just before 1914.”
