Those who were able to enjoy their daily exercise in the sun on Wednesday, May 6, may have noticed that the seafront looked busier than in recent weeks.

It comes as the Government prepares to ease some of the strict lockdown measures we have seen over the last six weeks in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.

A number of popular seafront eateries have opened their doors for takeaway service only and customers queued, at a distance, to be able to enjoy an ice cream or chips.

A number of families could be seen to make the most of the daily walk and enjoyed fish and chips from the likes of the recently reopened The Blue Marlin or a coffee to go from Scoop and Bean, which opened its doors for the first time this week.

And it comes as Boris Johnson has suggested during today’s Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) that lockdown measures could be eased as early as Monday, May 11.

The Prime Minister is set to make an announcement on Sunday, May 10 about the next stages of the coronavirus lockdown.

During today’s Downing Street briefing Local Government Secretary Robert Jenrick said that “appropriate and safe” social distancing measures will be implemented when lockdown is eased.
