South Tyneside yob jailed after spraying urine in prison officer's face

A yob who sprayed urine in a prison officer’s face has returned to jail after he was imprisoned for the offence.

Callum James Goodwin, from South Tyneside, concealed the urine in a Radox shower bottle while exercising in a yard at Durham Prison’s C-wing.

He then sprayed the male officer in the face before swearing at him.

His victim was taken to hospital to be checked out following the incident on June 16, 2019, although it is not believed that he suffered any significant injuries.

Goodwin, 27, of Percy Street, Jarrow, was arrested and sentenced at Durham Crown Court earlier this week after admitting one charge under the Offences Against The Person Act at a previous hearing.

He was jailed for one year and eight months after pleading guilty to unlawfully and maliciously administering a poison or other destructive or noxious thing, namely urine, with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy his victim.
