Due to the popularity of the roadshow, the events are ticketed with around 2,500 people in attendance over the course of the day on Saturday, July 4.

As well as antiques and family heirlooms, the experts were keen to see more modern treasures – everything from retro toys to movie and music memorabilia, from mid-century furniture to vintage fashion, from designer handbags to rare trainers.

Host Fiona Bruce proved a big fan favourite on the day, as did the 25 experts who cast their eye over people’s items for free.

Lisa Lloyd is one of the miscellaneous experts, meaning she gets to see some really unusual curiosities.

“It was a voluntary organisation and she served on the front, going on to be highly decorated, which was an interesting story. Someone also brought 4metres of original Zandra Rhodes fabric from her degree show.”

She added: “I’ve never been to this location before and it was a brave choice being next to the sea, but it’s been a lovely day. What I really notice in the North East and North West is just how friendly and chatty the people are.”

Next, the roadshow is off to Caerphilly Castle in South Wales and Bangor Castle, Northern Ireland, but we’ll have to wait until the next series to see exactly what treasures they found - and the all important valuation price.
