When is the South Shields Camel Parade and is it free to attend?

And in South Tyneside is getting ready to host its annual programme of festive events, including the popular Camel Parade in South Shields, which attracts thousands of guests each year.

Here’s what you need to know about the event so far.

This year’s event is taking place on Friday, December 6 from 5pm until 6.15pm.

The camels and other entertainment will follow the usual route down Ocean Road, down to the seafront.

As well as the camels, this year’s event will see the return of drumming act Spark! and carnival group Creative Seed. Make sure you pack your camera to capture the spectacular characters on display!

The event will reach a spectacular finale with a festive music, and a seafront fireworks display.

What else is happening in South Tyneside this Christmas?

Christmas lights switch-ons are taking place this week in South Shields (Thursday, November 21), Jarrow and Boldon (both on Friday, November 22).

Hebburn’s decorations will be switched on on Monday, November 25.

There will also be a range of festive activities taking place at The Word, the Customs House pantomime, Santa’s Grotto at South Shields Museum and the Salvation Army Brass Band.
