A woman has died after falling from the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle on Saturday, January 4.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 8.30pm on Saturday, police received a report that a woman had fallen from the Tyne Bridge and landed on the pavement near to the Akenside Pub.

“Emergency services attended the scene but sadly the woman was pronounced dead a short time later.

“There is not believed to be any third party involvement and a report has been prepared for the coroner.”
