Police called to disorder at South Tyneside football ground

Police were called to deal with fan disorder at a South Tyneside football ground.

Trouble broke out outside Hebburn Town FC ground this afternoon following the match.

There was a record crowd of 1,302 people turned up to watch Hebburn take on City of Liverpool in the FV Vase.

Hebburn fans were left delighted when their team won the match 4-0.

However, police were later called to a disturbance outside the South Drive ground.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police, said: "At around 4.45pm today (Saturday) police were called to a report of disorder at Hebburn Sports Ground in South Tyneside involving a number of football fans.

"Police attended the venue and subsequently escorted supporters from the ground. There are currently no reports of injuries, however, enquiries are continuing and a police presence remains in the area."
