Boldon CA boss 'buzzing' after landing Sheffield FC tie in FA Vase third round draw
Boldon CA have discovered their opponents for an FA Vase third round tie later this month.
Joint-manager Chris Spence has revealed Boldon CA are ‘buzzing’ after they were handed an away tie at the world’s oldest football club in the third round of the FA Vase.
The Northern League Division Two club have already seen off three sides from a higher level on their way to the third round after claiming wins against Longridge Town, Campion and FC St Helens - and a South Tyneside derby victory against first round rivals Jarrow has only added to the excitement during the run.

After taking their place in the third round draw for only the second time in their history and for the first time since 1978, Boldon now know United Counties Football League Premier Division North club Sheffield FC stand in their way of a maiden visit to the last 32 of the competition.
Founded over 169 years ago, the South Yorkshire outfit are world football’s oldest clubs - and Boldon joint-boss Spence believes that tag only adds to the special nature of the tie as his own side look to continue creating their own history.
He told The Gazette: “We’re buzzing for the lads to get another away tie and I’m sure it’s going to be a brilliant day out. It’s another opponent higher up the pyramid than us but we’ve shown on three occasions now that we can mix it and we’ll go into the game full of confidence and give it everything we’ve got.
“To be given a tie against the oldest football club in the world is something we’re really looking forward to being involved in. We’re starting to create our own history as a football club now, and to be drawn against a team with such a historic background is fantastic for everyone involved. It’s a brilliant tie and one we’re all buzzing about.”
The other four Northern League clubs remaining in this season’s Vase have also been handed away ties in the competition. 2015 winners North Shields will travel to Holker Old Boys, Shildon head to Nelson, Bishop Auckland will face Woolton and Yarm and Eaglescliffe have been handed a visit to Thornton Cleveleys. The ties take place on the weekend of November 28.
