Rafa Benitez has told of his respect for Neil Warnock ahead of Cardiff City's visit to St James's Park.

The Cardiff manager was critical of Benitez in 2007 when he made changes for Liverpool's late-season match away to Fulham.

Warnock, then in charge of Sheffield United, felt Liverpool's defeat at Craven Cottage was a factor in his club's relegation.

However, the 67-year-old spoke of his "admiration" for Benitez ahead of Cardiff's visit to Tyneside.

And Benitez says their public spat is "done".

Asked about what happened nine years ago, Benitez said: "That's all done."

Newcastle are looking to extend their three-point advantage at the top of the league ahead of second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion's game against Bristol City at Aston Gate this evening.

Benitez added: "He's a manager with great experience in the Championship, so I know that it will not be an easy game.

"They have nothing to lose now, so they will come here with no fear.

"For us it is crucial that we keep concentrating and be ready to do what we are doing, which is to keep playing football and to keep winning."
