'We're sorry' - South Shields Market is cancelled this weekend due to bad weather forecast

‘Stay tuned and we hope to see you at our next market.’

South Shields Market has been cancelled for the scheduled day of Saturday, September 12 due to a forecast for bad weather.

A statement from the market said that worsening weather conditions were causing health and safety concerns.

The Market said: “We are sorry to say that South Shields Market is cancelled this Saturday 12th September.

“We are grateful for the support of the traders in this decision, and we hope you can continue to support them this weekend in other ways.

“We will hopefully be back next Saturday 19th September, and we have some lovely things planned over the next few weeks as we build our Autumn events calendar around the market place.

“Including live storytelling and illustrating, cake-making demos, live music and our upcoming market jams.

“Stay tuned and we hope to see you at our next market.”

From September 26, between 9am and 3pm every Saturday, a new weekly ‘Market Jam’ will bring live music to the market.
