South Shields road set to be closed this weekend

Drivers could face disruption at the weekend when a South Tyneside road is closed.

The road closure is to allow drainage work to be carried out at The Word, in South Shields.

Ferry Street, in South Shields, is to close for four days from Friday so drainage work can be carried out at The Word, the new library and digital media centre being built in the Market Place.

It will be shut from 5.30am on Friday until 6pm on Monday, with diversions in place and signage advising alternative routes.
