South Tyneside Council's reminder of the easiest ways to pay Council Tax
South Tyneside Council has issued a reminder to residents on how they can pay their Council Tax.
South Tyneside Council is reminding residents that they can use Direct Debit to pay their Council Tax and spread out the payments.
In February, South Tyneside councillors agreed a 4.95% rise in the tax from April, meaning between £1.28 and £1.92 a week extra for tax payers to contribute.

With Direct Debit, you can:
- Choose from five monthly payment dates
- Pay weekly each Friday
- Spread payments over 10 or 12 months You can choose to pay on either the 1st, 11th, 15th, 21st and 28th of the month.
You can pay over 10 or 12 months.
If you choose to pay over 10 months instead of 12, your monthly payments will be higher but payments will not be taken in February or March.
If you pay over 10 months, there is no need to cancel your Direct Debit when your Council Tax has been paid in full, the Direct Debit will automatically begin again in April.
