This is not democracy

I along with many of my colleagues, have been aware of the behaviour of some of the South Tyneside councillors and it’s obviously taken a brave stance on the part of someone in the know, to bring this to our attention and to the Parliamentary Labour Party!

It has been claimed that, even though this suspension will remain in force until May next year, Labour councillors can still stand in the forthcoming elections in May this year, which surely, cannot be allowed?

These people are currently under investigation and are therefore banned from holding public office until such time they are given the all clear.

If this proves not to be the case, then what price democracy?
