Northern Gas Networks apologises to South Shields residents over repair work disruption

Northern Gas Networks (NGNs) have apologised to motorists and residents on Birchington Avenue in South Shields over disruption set to be caused to carryout emergency repair works.

In order for engineers to work safely, a temporary road closure has been introduced on Birchington Avenue from the junction of Ashton Street and Alverthorpe Street.

A diversion has been put in place and the company have said no residential gas supplies will be affected.

Andy Coates, from Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works.

“However, it is vital we complete them to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of South Shields.

“We want to assure residents and road users that we will be working hard to complete this repair as safely and as quickly as possible and thank customers for their patience in the meantime.”
