Woman denies owning dog which attacked children in North East play park

Fathers ran to help when children were attacked by the brown-coloured Staffordshire bull terrier dog in Blyth, Northumberland.

Nine youngsters needed hospital treatment after the incident at the park in Burns Avenue.

Appearing at Newcastle Crown Court, Claire Neale, 37, of Chasedale Crescent, Blyth, Northumberland, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Granting her bail, Judge Ben Nolan QC said the trial would take place in February.

As part of her bail he said she must now live in South Tyneside, she cannot enter Blyth and cannot own a dog.
