Northern League: Boldon CA must keep feet on the ground ahead of Seaham clash

Boldon CA will hope to reclaim their place at the top of the Northern League Division Two table this weekend.

Boldon CA have been warned they must keep their feet on the ground after a stunning start to the season triggered talk of a push for promotion into the Northern League’s top tier.

The addition of several eye-catching summer signings have raised ambitions at The Villa and Keaton Trott and Chris Spence’s side will head into Saturday’s home game with Division Two rivals Seaham Red Star looking to extend their unbeaten run to a twelfth game in all competitions.

They will also hope to continue a remarkable run of goalscoring form after they plundered their way to 14 goals in their last four league fixtures and collected a maximum points return in the process. Despite all of that positivity, joint-manager Spence has warned his players they can’t afford take Red Star lightly and insisted the first target for the season remains to secure a play-off place.

He told The Gazette: “It’s a long way to go. Me, Keaton and everyone involved have got our feet firmly on the ground. The play-offs were the challenge at the start of the season, so anything better than that is a bonus. We’ll just take it game by game and see where it takes us.

“Seaham are a big club and they’re always a team you can’t take lightly. Maybe they haven’t got off to their best start, but they’re a big club and every team in this league can cause you problems. We don’t rest on our laurels, though. We’ll enjoy this one and then it’s back to work and we go again.
