FA Vase: Boldon CA urged to use momentum to see off Campion

Boldon CA have been challenged to make the most of the momentum they have gained when they visit Campion in the FA Vase second qualifying round on Sunday afternoon.

The Villa outfit have started the Northern League campaign with a stunning run of form consisting of ten wins from their 11 games during the first six weeks of the season and the anomaly in that run was a draw with Billingham Town.

Progress also arrived in the first qualifying round of the Vase as goals from Callum Larmouth and Charlie Whitfield ensured Boldon came from a goal down to see off higher level opposition in the form of North West Counties League side Longridge Town. Their reward is another test against a step five side as they travel to West Yorkshire to take on a Campion side sitting in the top ten of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division table ahead of Sunday’s tie.

Boldon joint-manager Chris Spence wants his side to use their goalscoring prowess across the pitch to do themselves justice as they look to cause a shock and secure a first round spot for the first time 1980.

He told The Gazette: “It’s important that all the lads pitch in and we’re not relying on one or two to score, it’s great for us as a management team to see goals from all around the pitch. We are in good form, we are really looking forward to the tie and we want to go down there and give a good account of ourselves and do Boldon and the Northern League justice.”
