Hebburn Town boss switches focus as Hornets move top of the table after King's Lynn win
Hebburn Town moved to the top of the National League North table following their 4-2 home win against King’s Lynn Town.
Daniel Moore wasted little time in focus on Hebburn Town FC’s impressive home win against King’s Lynn Town as the Hornets boss immediately turned his focus towards planning for a extremely challenging week.
An outstanding second-half performance helped the Hornets extend their unbeaten run to a fifth consecutive game and ensured Moore’s men will be sitting at the top of the National League North table as they prepare to travel to Macclesfield on Monday afternoon. That is quickly followed by a home clash against a Chester side tipped to challenge for promotion into non-league’s top tier on Saturday afternoon as the Hornets go head-to-head with the two sides sitting immediately beneath them in the table in quick succession.

Confidence is clearly flowing within the Hornets setup - although they didn’t have it all their own way on Saturday afternoon as King’s Lynn duo Kwame Thomas and Ross Crane scored either side of a Jake Charles equaliser to give the visitors a narrow half-time lead at the Trustmark Group Stadium. However, second-half goals from Liam Murray, Ethan Wood and on-loan Hartlepool United striker Josh Donaldson turned the game on its head and handed Hebburn a fourth win in their first five games in the National League North.
Rather than focusing on his side’s achievements, Moore quickly turned his focus towards what lies in wait over the next week.
He told The Gazette: “We looked at these games and the five games were all full-time teams so we have to recover ahead of Monday because the next two games are against two of the teams that are favourites for the league. We will go down there, what do we have to lose, everyone expects us to go down there and get beat again. My first job will be to watch their game back, get as much information as I can, get videos in the group and try and give the players enough information but not too much where is impacts our performance.”
‘He’s learning’ - Daniel Moore on Liam Murray

The performance of winger Liam Murray proved to be one of the many highlights of yet another impressive win for the Hornets as the Hebburn Town Juniors graduate produced yet another eye-catching display that gave another hint he is more than ready to thrive in step two of the non-league pyramid. Moore praised Murray for being willing to listen to his coaches and team-mates and believes he has ‘a great chance’ of enjoying a successful career.
He said: “Muzza has been unbelievable and the best thing I can say about him is the last two or three years, he’s listened. He’s listening to experienced players around him and he’s learning. If he keeps learning in that manner, fair play to him because he has a great chance of having a brilliant career.”
