Hebburn Town FC boss eager for start of historic National League North campaign

Hebburn Town will compete in the National League North for the first time in their history during the 2026/27 season.

Hebburn Town FC manager Daniel Moore has admitted he has ‘had enough’ of his side’s pre-season schedule - and he believes his players feel the same way as they prepare for a first ever season in the National League North.

The Hornets have enjoyed a largely positive pre-season by producing some eye-catching performances against the likes of Gateshead and Hartlepool United and they will round off their preparations for a historic season with a visit to Northern Premier League East club Blyth Spartans on Saturday afternoon.

Following a home defeat against West Auckland Town, the visit to Croft Park will represent the final step in what has been a busy summer for Moore and his coaching staff after the departure of a number of their Northern Premier League title-winning squad ensured they were forced into a more hectic recruitment drive than had been expected.

With their pre-season schedule now approaching its end and an eagerly anticipated home clash with Southport on the first day of the National League North season now closing in, Moore has insisted his players are ready for the challenges they will face throughout the campaign and revealed he is excited about what lies in wait in the second tier of the non-league game.

He told The Gazette: “I’ve had enough of pre-season, I think the players have had enough of pre-season and, if I am being honest and they are being honest, I think other managers have had enough of pre-season now we are close to the season. You just want it come around and we are all excited. It has been about making them realise what this level is going to be about and we are trying to prepare them as best we can. I’m not looking too much into the performance against West Auckland because it’s just about getting up to speed and making sure we manage little niggles. It’s been a good pre-season for us, we have enjoyed it - but there is a feeling everyone is now just ready for the first day of the season and a big day for the club as a whole.”
