Hebburn Town FC manager Daniel Moore relishing Hartlepool United test
Hebburn Town FC host National League club Hartlepool United in their latest pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.
Hebburn Town FC manager Daniel Moore has challenged his side to step up their preparations for the new National League North season when they host Hartlepool United in their latest pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.
Lee Clark’s side will travel to the Trustmark Group Stadium looking to preserve their perfect pre-season record after claiming wins at Seaton Carew, Redcar Athletic and Spennymoor Town over the last fortnight. Their hosts have also enjoyed a promising start to their preparations for their first ever season in the second tier of the non-league game - and Moore is determined to ‘have a good go’ when the Hornets face a side he believes will ‘be top end of the National League’ during the upcoming campaign.

Speaking after his side’s draw at Morpeth Town on Saturday, Moore said: “Tuesday is going to be a good test and I want to have a real go. I want it to be a proper game on Tuesday and I will be picking a team to do that. The other two games, we will be doing similar because we’ve been managing lads’ minutes but some of them have had 90 and we need people getting a good 90 minutes in. I’m looking forward to Tuesday, I think the players are, I’ve earmarked this game and I want to prepare and approach it like a league game. They’ll be top end of the National League so we need to be bang at it and we will give it a real go.”
‘Promising signs’

Pools youngsters Kian Foreman and Josh Donaldson will face their parent clubs after joining Hebburn on loan over the last week - and the latter made his first start for his temporary employers in their draw at Craik Park on Saturday. Moore was impressed with what he witnessed and believes there are ‘promising signs’ from the former Newcastle United youngster.
He said: “You can see he has an eye for goal, his runs were really good, he got in some really good positions. He is probably disappointed he hasn’t scored because he had some really good chances. That’s his first start for this season, I know he had half an hour for Hartlepool last week but it’s his first real runout from the start. He will take a couple of weeks to get up and running, it’s promising signs.”
